Central Illinois | Definitely, I know my costs. The unknown is what the fat cattle market is going to be when bottle calves coming in now are finished. I have tried hedging and that has cost me a lot of money! Buying and selling cattle all year is the best hedge I’ve come up with. If I’m buying bottle calves every 2-3 months and selling fat cattle every 3 weeks the only way I’ve found to do better is guess the market and be right, and if I could do that I wouldn’t need to feed cattle! | |
