I always feel ai can be used to fix a cow that is lacking in certain areas. If the one bull doesn’t adress this it continues. Not saying to use forty different bulls but two or possibly more could get you there faster.


This kind of aligns with my thinking, I used to milk cows so had several bulls I used, now with the beef what I am seeing and maybe it is not relevant with the Genomics, but some bulls sire good brood cows and some do not. This is my first experience (last 18 years) with herd sires , first bull got lucky and those daughters were good cows and stayed in herd a long time, second thru calves that I joked were crossed with a duroc pig the way the rear ends looked, but those daughters were a flash in the pan, just did not stay in the herd, and that would be my fear with what you are doing using one bull, if for some reason the daughters do not work out it is too high of a percentage of your herd.
