I think you have a winning attitude.
Think how we would feel in an English speaking area and are only unilingual when someone approaches you speaking another language and just expects you to converse with them in their language
Yes many businesses in Quebec probably have someone that is able to converse in English but an attitude that just expects/demands that service in a jurisdiction that english is not the main or even official language be provided would tick a lot of people off.
