First, main question is to you have manuals for the ez guide 500 and EZ boom? Looks like Trimble took down their website with all that, but Ag Leader might still have them available. You can email me as well and I could send them your way. If these are new to you, make sure you have firmware 5.12 for the 500 and 1.5 for the Ez-boom. They made a lot of improvements to them from the older firmware versions.

With that, if the satellite icon is green and full bars, nothing would normally be restricting the ez boom for auto operation other than its own settings. You'll want to turn on the "advance mode". Like having boom control in "auto". Across the bottom of the screen, the boom sections should be yellow when "off" if available to operate. They will be red if forced off. And green when it thinks they are spraying/on.

As far as working, it should have been "painting" while you sprayed. Turned the sprayed area yellow. It will force the booms off if you are in a previously covered area.

Yes, you can run in manual. Have to shut the master switch off and the rate switch (Man-1-2) to Manual while sitting still. Then while still not moving, turn the master switch on (and the individual boom switches) and the boom valves should open. One can start driving then. Flow rate/pressure can then be adjusted with the +/- switch. Often, the system forces the control valve shut when stopping, so you may not have much/any flow at first until you hold the "+" for awhile to get the regulating valve opening. It explains this procedure in the manual. It's not always very intuitive.
