East Central wisconsin | I have a different thought. Get rid of the ridge vent entirely. (they do not work) On paper, and in theory ridge vents sound great. But the reality (I believe) is very different. Residential ridge vents are too restrictive for any air flow with out wind pressure. The thermal temperature differential between outside and inside is not enough to move the air through them. So on the hot humid summer days, your roof shingles are baking, and excess heat load is coming into your house. I prefer an active thermostat controlled fan. (needed to move the hot air out, when there is no wind.) Just my thoughts. Good luck. | |
