MB, Canada | Speedrite and Gallagher are always a safe bet. Just be sure to compare apples to apples when buying--a Speedrite 12000 (12 joules output, 16 stored) is bigger than a Gallagher 1500 (11 output, 15 stored). Cyclops will blow your boots off if you can get one. To my understanding, Speedrite are the easiest to fix and will send parts to dealers to do repairs.
If you’re going solar, you want about 10 watts of panel for every output joule, so don't go too monstrous on the energizer side if you want it to be portable. I'd rather go a bit smaller and get one with the smart remote/fault finder--that smaller energizer can go a long way if its well grounded and not up against major faults. I had an old Speedrite 2800 (2.8 output joules) that was putting out 6.2 kv on 1.5 miles of semi-clean fence the other day. | |
