NE Nebraska | You can file the Biennial/MCS-150 for free online. Takes about 5 minutes. Those compliance groups aren't necessarily a scam, they just take advantage of someone who doesn't know better or doesn't want the hassle to fill out the form. They're out to make a buck.
We've never used them, but get their emails ALL the TIME. I learned something a few years ago though. I always knew the filing deadline was set by the last digit of the number which dictates the month and the second to last digit which dictates the year of filing. We had gotten a letter from the DOT in April reminding us to file by our June deadline. I went ahead and filed it in April just to get it done. For the two years following, random companies were relentless about sending us emails and letters saying we were in non-compliance because we didn't file in June. I verified with DOT that we were in compliance, but learned for the future - only file in the month in which you're supposed to file. | |
