Subject: RE: Ukraine war analysis

Faunsdale, AL
WE didn’t have either Chamberlin OR Churchill. We had Roosevelt.

Lots of parallels between the political situation here in the USA in the 1930’s and today. It took a surprise attack by the Empire of Japan to get almost everyone in the USA on board and ready to take care of business. I hope it doesn’t come to that this time.

It APPEARS that if we will support the Ukrainians, they are more than ready and willing to take care of Russia’s attempts to reestablish the former Soviet sphere of influence in Central and Eastern Europe.

I think an aspect of this situation that many have ignored is that China is watching. China can go two ways in the next 20 years, one way is peaceful economic development and engagement, the other is confrontation and military hegemony. Putin has played the military confrontation and hegemony card in Europe. I believe it is best that he looses big time to set a relatively cheaply obtained example for others that may consider that option.
