Cen. Pa. | Here in the east 2 and 3 years back the pipe line industry came in and stated using massive amounts of straw . Straw prices rose up close to $200 to $250 . The normal end users of straw found alternatives. So mushroom and straw berry growers , Livestock and horse industry and contactors and Landscapers stopped using straw and substituted other products to take the place of straw . Many farmers jumped on the band wagon a little late . Guys who never bothered with straw were baling hot and heavy . I remember the straw conversations on AgTa;lk about big money straw were still strong last year when actually it was over. In the mean time the pipelines were completed and the Constuction of others was stopped .
