I could have hooked up the baler in January and would have had the same awful mess  that I am trying to help others avoid. I seem to have missed the “puttering” part of running a 60 head, birth to plate retail beef business, along with calving and logging in my “spare” time along with a lot of kids and grandkids. And, fwiw, I don’t have a heated shop.

What does heated shop have to do with anything? I don’t have one and missed very few days in the winter wrenching on something. I ended last year with baler issues I worked on mine in April and will hopefully know this afternoon if I actually fixed it but TWO dry runs it seems ok. I have an excel spreadsheet of repairs needed that is attached to the side of the fridge to haunt me every time I walk past. I have two kids under 7 and work off farm full time and seem to get the important stuff done each winter. We run a 1300 acre cash crop operation plus 60 cow calf pairs.
