Ft. Ripley MN | Personally I think it stays the same or heads higher… some guys put fertilizer on but at reduced rates. How many didn’t put any on at all?? While I agree things look phenomenal right now it’s still a long ways until this fall with no extra inventory. I would be willing to bet that the guys that usally sell there extra are gonna be reluctant to if there even is any extra hay to go around yet. Yes there is a lot of moisture and pp ground to go around but more often then not once North Dakota is wet it takes a little while to dry out…
The cost of producing that bale of hay has gone up a lot and will continue to do so as the year goes on.
Far as a saving grace for cattle guys I sure hope so but even with a normals year of feed on hand the economics of running cows doesn’t go very far. Guys will realize that when there feeders are going through the ring…
