Subject: Opinion on hay market for Minnesota and the ND

ottertail co mn
Hay was extremely short last year up here. 1st cutting is going to produce more hay than all of last year in our area. PP acres are going to be big enough to produce a pile of hay. People have the hay on pp figured out. If I was a cattle guy with pp in my area I would be making deals with neighbors to plant their cover crop for them, especially on areas where whole fields will be pp. this should cut the hay price in half to a third of the price from last year.

This maybe what saves some cattle guys, we lost a pile of small producers last year. $175 a ton last year for crp sticks…

Good luck to all
