Eastern NE KS | I have a native grass field that is hayed in July and regrows to about 10" height. This old stuff is then baled in next year's hay.
When fed, bale's are processed back in the a windrows, this old stuff is largely left un-eaten. But that is a factor of our conditions I feed enough that allows them to be picky. If I fed more protein supplement and less hay, they would clean it up better. I have more hay than money for supplement.
