scmn | Anyway, I think it’s a great idea! But considering there’s no feed in that country, and that they’re so far removed from the feedlot world, I could see the big packing companies shutting them down in a hurry. And that trucks are hard to come by I think it’ll be hard to find 250 trucks, let alone anyone to drive them in todays day. What’s y’all’s opinion? Just looking from our neck of the woods, Rapid is 120 miles closer than Joplin and a lot of cattle from here go to Joplin. Divert those cattle from Joplin to Rapid and you don't have to find any trucks since the cattle are already hauled and shaving 120 miles off per load is $600/load or $17/hd savings for the feedlot that is already hauling their fats. Now a MN/IA feedlot can go west with fats and haul feeders back east. |
