Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I went about this sort of the opposite way. I had auto steer on the sprayer tractor but didn't trust it to drive down the rows the way I liked. I did use it to "pull me on to" the correct set of rows. I would either have the AB line from the planting tractor or make a new one. When pulling back in after turning around I would start to make my turn and engage auto steer, it would pull me onto the correct set of rows. I would then snap the steering wheel to disengage auto steer and manually follow the rows.
Prior to that I had a different SP sprayer without auto steer. It did have a Raven lightbar. The Raven lightbar had a count down distance display to the correct row. This had a delay such as you mention. Even though it was "behind" in the countdown distance, I learned how much to lead the countdown. This worked quite well.
