Unscrew the back cover of the laptop, you should find a 2.5 inch HDD, it may have a tray that it is screwed into, unscrew the screws on the tray only, slide the drive and tray back, and the drive is out.

Take the short sata cable included with the adapter, plug one end into the drive, the other into the adapter, carefully as they only go one way. Take the power adapter, plug it into the wall, switch the switch off, plug it into the drive. Switch the switch to on and plug in the adapter to a different computer. It should show up just like a flash/thumb/usb/removable drive after a few seconds and it will act like one.

Sound complicated but it is not. I would recommend selecting everything and copying it over to the different PC as who knows how long that drive will live. It could live a year, or it could live 10 minutes.
