South Central MN | POE is easy to string out. Buy some connectors and the tools for it and you can make cable up to 100ft long I believe before the length starts affecting transmission quality.
I ran my own cables for an Amcrest POE cam. Very happy with it. If you already have Blue Iris and a good idea of how that works and how to get additional cameras hooked into it, you have the hard part done. You might need a POE switch at the remote site depending on what gear you already have, and you might need to be able to tweak the firewall settings on your router to allow access to the cameras. Be aware that not all switches will provide POE power. However, most cameras come with power-injector adapters that allow you to plug the camera into the adapter to get power from a wall socket instead of the switch. Going this route obviously negates some of the benefits of the POE camera, but it is a work-around if needed. | |
