When items were taken off the shelf of my inventory I would write down and place the tag or part number on a piece of paper in the box. End of year made for a nice way to know all the items used to prepare parts orders during sales or discounts. Have since resorted to a dry erase whiteboard where I can write part numbers down as they are used to keep track of inventory. Few years old pics of whiteboard scribbles.
