Subject: RE: Windows 11?

East central Iowa

Given how well 10 works, I'm passing on 11.

The daily updates and the lack of compatibility with previous programs and hardware that happened with Windows 10 make me extremely wary of 11.  So much so that I'm seriously considering going to Ubuntu.   On my laptop I  have no Microsoft programs and my former Corel suite doesn't run on Windows 10.

I can use free LibreOffice to write documents and spreadsheets.  I can use Inkscape to create  posters or other graphics and Gimp to edit pictures.

There are several CAD programs that are free and alternatives to sketchup https://alternativeto.net/software/google-sketchup/?platform=linux

The bonus is I'm not followed by Microsoft and not forced into whatever future they have along with the increased speed of Ubuntu on my laptop over Windows 10.

When I did tech work for people I hated it when they were suckered into "upgrades" that took away some of their programs and wouldn't work with some of their hardware.  So many of these "upgrades" are for the benefit of Microsoft not you.

If what you have works, what's the advantage to you to change?
