Is it possible to get a free copy of Solidworks? Looked on their website and it was 30 days then subscription. I have a lot of experience with Pro/e-Creo but that’s prohibitively expensive. Would like to get something similar to tinker with in my retirement.

It is possible. You can steal a copy. You can torrent a cracked copy of Solidworks. Quite safe if you pick a popular torrent. Not quite legal but basically 0% chance of getting caught. If you want to justify it morally; Solidworks isn’t losing money if you weren’t going to buy it anyway?

If you have access to a college or university email address you should be able to get a free student edition of Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor.
