NE WI | Don’t forget about the Espressif line of controllers that you can use the Aurduino IDE to program them. ESP32 and ESP8266. They come in different configurations. Some with LORA radios built in for long range communication. Some with cameras you can use as a security cam with PIR sensor. Can send email with picture when it detects movement.
ESP32 has WiFi and Bluetooth where the ESP8266 is WiFi only. Can be setup as web servers to show data via HTML right on your phone. Can use Blynk for IOT remote applications.
Tons of code examples on random nerd tutorials website.
Old school PIC processors and basic stamps were what I used. Installed a ultrasonic range detection backup alarm in the Gleaner M3. Used a PIC micro controller and PICBasic Pro to program it.
