Should be DDR3 or DDR4, any computer running DDR2 or older is really getting outdated.
I dropped 64 GB into a machine in 2012 - - - - its still my daily driver and would likely compete for most anything most are doing and not be 'slow'.
It all depends upon your system specs!!
