Subject: Way too close for comfort this morning

Pilot Grove, Missouri

An F1-F2 tornado went through my area (Pilot Grove, MO) this morning. My place is undamaged but close neighbor's place that is at most 1/2 mile away was pretty much wiped out. Their house is seen at the 0:15 mark in the video. I spent a good part of the day helping them and took all the food and meat I could store in my freezers. Power is still out as many power lines are down but I have a whole house generator and had enough freezer space. Insurance agent showed up while I was there and said they'd likely consider it a total loss and not to bother tarping anything. Neighbor had plenty of family to help carry out the important stuff to trailers. She was home alone but went to the concrete safe room when the warning came out (only about 30 seconds before it hit). Husband was in New York and hopped the first flight back, should be here this evening. Many other people I know got hit. My oldest son is out helping tarp a roof of a house his friend rents from another close farmer/neighbor.

Say an extra prayer for Patrick Gerke aka PatCMO. If you remember he had a stroke a couple years ago. His wife died in January and his house was hit in this tornado (2:00 minute mark). His family home place across the road was wiped out too. Nobody living there thankfully (starting about the 1:20 mark).
