Subject: Leveling Time and Cost Calculation

NE Ark.
Is this right or somewhat close to right?

John Deere 9520 has 350 drawbar HP and consumes 20.9 gal per hour (from tractordata.com).

Using the rule of thumb of 15 drawbar HP per one cubic yard of capacity, the max scraper size is 350 / 15 = 23 cu yd.

Assuming 10 loads per hour (per forum user leeman) that is 23 x 10 = 230 cu yd per hour.

For a job requiring 50,000 cu yd that is 50,000 / 230 = 218 hours

Working 10 hours a day that is 22 days.

20.9 gal x 218 = 4557 gal

If diesel is $3.00 a gal then that will cost 4557 * $3.00 = $13,671 in diesel

Thanks, Andy
