West Lafayette IN | On the T.V. show Landman, Tommy explains to someone that the wind turbines are only there to produce electricity to power the oil rigs. He says they are way off the grid and it’s cost prohibitive to run power lines way out there there.
My questions are:
1. Are wind turbines used to power the oil rigs?
2. If so, are wind turbines a cheaper way to produce electricity than a fuel powered generator?
3. There is a Caterpillar plant near my hometown that manufactures BIG generators. Why wouldn’t they use these generators for power instead of wind?
4. If there is no wind, do the rigs shut down until the wind picks up?
5. Is it simply a T.V. show for entertainment purposes only and it’s not always accurate?
