Our thinking is that a 75/25 arrangement is pretty fair for everyone. 75 being tenant paying all expenses, 25% being landlord taking 25% of crop and no expense. Both assume risk and both ride the roller coaster of yield and commodity prices. This year our landlords on this arrangement did very well even selling cash off the combine!

I know of some using a fixed bushel amount per crop. Last I heard it was 20 bushel of soys or 50 bushel of corn per acre. That was 5-6 years ago, at todays prices thats pretty good RTI for the landlord. Especially if the landlord watches the market closely. They know I am going to have x bushels to sell and forward contract for fall delivery at some pretty attractive prices.
