E.Central MN | I think bending the goal posts includes floating the can further down the stream, hoping that the economy will come back on its own. The problem is that the bank regulators have clamped down on banks which causes them to make fewer loans. Plus the banks are looking at rising interest rates at some point as well so they don't want to be caught with a lot of long term loans when interest rates do go up. It is interesting to see the daily flip flop between those who see the economy improving (push up the price of stocks) as opposed to those who are worried about interest rates rising (which reduces the return of stocks and drives down the price). | |
