| It looks like the handwritings on the wall for some sort of national sales tax. This would not be domestic production or manufacturing friendly unless you are totally vertically integrated.
I would prefer an import tax - so many $ per ton on anything coming into the ports. Of course there will be talk of retaliation by our trading partners, but We import several times as much as We sell to most countries, so they don't have much leverage.
As Senior wisely states, there will be consequences, and the spendaholics in Washington will try spend everything and then some they can get their hands on. | |
