Ottawa, Illinois
The crop isn't there like the government said last time, but heck they still probably have the rose colored glasses on. I've been disagreeing with crop reports since summer.
Why should I expect the next crop report be any different than the last. They will probably say the crop is all harvested and it was a wonderful crop.

The fact is, there is still corn out in the field. The late stuff that the government said was 200 bu/acre is really 44-48 pound test weight.
This stuff is germinating in the bin. Anyone who batch dried in a bin had germination.

This stuff is going to look like crap by summer. They will be rejecting trucks at the river terminals. The ethanol plants that can handle high damaged corn will have more than they know what to do with it. Expect the discount for damaged corn to rise. THIS SUMMER IS GOING TO BE HAIRY.
