A while ago now but does the battery turn on, it doesn't have to be in the drone. Don't forget the quick press then press and hold.
It may charge when turned on as it was a trick to make them take a top up.
If they have been left rather too low for many months it isn't surprising the chemistry is messed up.
I do have some myself I haven't looked at for ages and do wonder what you are even supposed to do to safely dispose of them as they hold a lot of power and could ignite if crushed.
