Runs on low cost distillate or todays high cost diesel.
Is there still such a thing as low cost distillate? I thought the only thing similar to the old-school distillate was Kerosene, which isn't bargain-basement either.
No, distillate was a product of the inefficient distillation process in the teens and twenties, maybe thirties. By WWII, the distillation/refining process could produce a higher percentage of intended products.
Kerosene was still a valuable product, distillate had a lower flash point than kerosene so unsafe for lamps, and a lower octane than gasoline. Used in 4:1 compression ratio spark engines, or big diesels apparently.
