Subject: my repairman says

Sunflower State
My uncle has repaired washers dryers etc for decades. He says new models are good for 10-12 years depending on use. He is an authorized Sears repairman but works on them all as an independent too.

He recommends Whirlpool, Maytag and Kenmore. Of course those are sold through Sears so it might be a tad jaded that way but we have good luck with those brands.

FYI - we had a GE washer 8 years, GE dryer 10 years. Replaced with Maytag. When the heating element on the GE dryer puked he said replace the whole machine due to the life being about played out anyway. Part was $179 about anywhere.
