Good question. It gets harder & harder to bargin for a price. Around here shackle space has pretty much disappeared if you aren't on some kind of formula / contract. Commit delivery from 5 to 25 days out to secure a delivery date and take what ever the formula offers. Usually derived from some sort of bid market on what % of hogs?? 5% ? 10%? 20%?




http://www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/lm_hg201.txt One formula I'm aware of uses a % of the average net lot in the link. A lot of spread from lowest to highest $36 to $73 WOW $37. Who captures the high $$$ and how? Not an independant probably???
