Nevada, Iowa | Dad has had both hip joints replaced. They were done about a year apart and the first one was done in 93. Dad really suffered with his hips, it made me hurt just to watch him cross the yard. Surgery was the best thing he has ever done, he gets around better than I do now. The therapy was not as extensive as the therapy for knee replacement sounds like it is. When he woke up from the first surgery he stated that he had some pain from the surgery but that deep, never ending pain was gone, he really felt relief. He had to watch a few things closely like bending over and crossing his legs at first but other than that nothing too taxing compared to the pain he endured prior to the surgery. In fact he never realized how bad his second hip was until he got the first one fixed, then he started to really notice it. | |
