Subject: Manufacturing in a Wally-world.

Fairbury, NE (Southeast)
I think its pretty easy to blame "wall street" for all our problems but it goes deeper than that. We live in a Walmart, throw-away society that refuses to pay for quality.

Jim if our manufacturing sector is so pitiful, why is Toyota building cars and trucks right here in the US of A? Well, I think we both know Unions vis a vis wages have a rather large part in the puzzle.Correct me but I believe Toyotas wage scale is roughly half of GM. You get wages down to a competitive level, you will see jobs remain in the country. Heck you can buy visegrips now for 2/3 what you could last year because the cost of manufacture is much less....don't ask me about the quality because it has declined by a large margin.

I don't have any real answers so chalk this up as a rant. Bu we can choose between capitalism/republic or communism/with interior free enterprise with a few pretty brutal human rights restrictions (Chinese) Think I will stick it out here. :)
