Most of the shepherds are now from Peru for the guys who still herd sheep around the public lands. Met a Basque last weekend who now runs all the bands for one operation. Wish I could hire him to run more sheep for me, talk about a love of sheep and alot of knowledge. Came to america in 1964.

I think the various farm programs and high cost of equipment also have driven farmers from diversity. Nothing says complicated like livestock, hay and grain in the same operation.
