If the market is rewarding you with a profit and you can live with that price, then forward contract some new crop. Same goes for old crop....sell for a deferred delivery to capture the carry.
Options are useful marketing tools when one understands them. Just don`t make it any more complicated than necessary.
As a former Introducing Broker, I had to learn them and do understand the purpose of them. My use of them is more for the investment returns I hope to realize, using both puts and calls for most all markets.
