It's been years ago but our family would prepare all different kinds of meat in bite sized peace.
Chicken, pork, veal and beef. Set the fondue pan in the middle of the table, light the burner under it with the correct fuel and we'd all gather around, put a piece of meat on the skewer and put it in the pan. That's how we'd spend an hr or 2. There would be breads, salads etc and different kinds of sauces to put on the meats etc. Was always a fun time. Haven't done that in years!
Being from Holland you may know the term "gourmetten"? I think that took the place of fondue. It's good too.
We have the pans etc for it here and my wife and kids love doing that.
