| tns you are exactly right, if you take a 10 20 or 40 year average there is nobody who is going to consistently outguess the futures market. But if you understand basis and carry there is almost every year a signifigant gain to be made in the merchandising side. The real profit margin is there to be made by nickels and dimes if you know how to play the basis and carry game and pay for your own storage cost instead of passing it off. And you have to have the ability to separate futures and cash markets to do that. I feel bad for them but we need to have a signifigant amount of people who don't care or understand that to continue to make it work that way! | |
