| According to an article in SF on livestock marketing, they claim the future is to manage all input and production risks before actual feeding. They claim production will result after locking in input costs and production sales in positive numbers. Two things, if you can do this on paper, why even go to the work of feeding the actual hogs or cattle, just trade the paper. Also, if you numbers can't be locked in positive do you fire all your employees for a few months and let a few million dollars of assets sit and rot while you earn no income on them or even worse, have to pay interest on them? I'm trying to figure out what kind of reality they are living in. | |
