Depends on how widespread the VOMI problems are and how they "solve the problem" if not able to access enough local corn.....this is the "sorting out" process the market goes through as it processes information on the issue and comes to a market-based solution...
What will increase your level of frustration in the short-run will be that the local market will want to discount the value of all corn vs. paying a premium for the good stuff....they operating on the assumption the cost for you to get to a better market will be too much....which is why I advise staying patient....as available supplies shrink over the marketing year, your good corn will become more valuable...you may end up wanting to hedge in the futures market and let basis appreciate if you think the supply of good corn is not going to fill their needs..
now, if they offering 10-15 cents over historical levels, I'd be willing to consider parting with some as a starting point... | |
