Subject: RE: Cargill "Pro" Pricing

Goff Kansas
Was at a pro pricing meeting last night, and Randy Christie, Cargill head corn trader spoke.  He apoligized, and for the first time ever he added, that he blew the June acres report.  Completely caught them by surprize, as it did many if I remember right.    I even remember hearing one marketer, Gartner (sp), even called USDA to see if there was a misprint or mistake, for it could not be right.  There would prob be another 50 - 70 cents on that contract due to that bad decision.   But they make the decision with the knowledge they have at the time, and go with it.  Good or bad..   Perhaps you should look into the option of being able to price out of your contract if at some point you think the price is good enough for you. Not sure how it works, but might work given that they keep trading the contract till September or so, and prices generally go down after the mid of July..
