Can't say when they exactly disappeared. The area is HRW wheat country in the prime of Montana's "golden triangle". The land is traditionally farmed "half and half", half summerfallow, half wheat.

Back in the 80's when I did business with "Kenny", he "went 5000 acres both ways", ie 5000 acres smf, 5000 acres wheat. He had just bought a 650 Bud and his son Jeff was running the farm.

Did some goggling today and see his daughter Janice is running the real estate business, Ken's son Jay is a broker with her and Flynn Farms is now part of Flynn Realty.

The CRP made major changes to Montana, higher prices in 2007-2008 has brought some land back into wheat production but there are still a lot of acres in the ice-box.
