| Do Roths for both of you. Gives you and your wife security (which is often very important to women-especially when kids start to show up). Remember, these are to be drawn from in 40 years. The last 2-5 years aren't significant in the long run.
Next, have a long, open conversation about what you both want out of life. Take your time. If you both are on the same page, the tests coming up in low profit years and kids running around your ankles will be just that-tests, not disasters. Then, make a plan and invest together. You'll need the support in the tough years, and will enjoy the rewards of both of you being proud of the achievement in the good years.
