Genoa City, WI | Fish in the midwest is always a hit and miss. The local mega-grocery that I shop has a extremely obvious 'fishy' odor whenever you walk by their fish case, and thus I've never bought any from them. I've been told that if the fish you buy smells 'fishy' that it's already going off. There's a small specialty fish shop the next town over that FedEx overnights all their fish in from the coasts. It's a little pricey, and we don't often buy there, but the shop never smells bad, and the fish is always excellent.
I don't buy meat from the mega-grocery either, come to think of it. Local butcher shop for steaks. And I just bought a hog from one of my customers to fill up the freezer. | |
