About 10 years ago, my satellite internet provider informed me that I had reached my data limit. I hadn't even been home during that time, so I phoned them. They asked me if my wi-fi was password protected, and I was about to say that I didn't need to because I live out in the country. But then I remembered there were a bunch of renters living across the road, about 500 yards away. I didn't think wi-fi could travel that far.
Knew a guy who served his block in the city when internet was new and fairly pricey.
With a good router - - - - I think you can get to 1000' if there isn't a lot inbetween.
Suggest running on WPA2 (3 if you have the option). |
