Quick question about graphics cards. Other than gaming, am I going to see a benefit to it? Would it help if I got into 3D printing and cad rendering? I really don't like the notion of spending $160 for the kids to play a game, but if it'll help with other things to, then it won't hurt so bad.

Chuckling - - - - $160 for a graphics card - - - - - that's already a serious cheapee.
$1600 isn't even a serious graphics card

that's a top $$$ card but you can see that it is some well over 50 x more $$$$ than your budget.
IMO graphics cards have gotten expensive but I've heard that's due to bitcoin miners and such like - - - - dunno.
