Huron county Ontario Canada | Does BMR corn silage for dairy cows pay? We milk about 70 cows and currently feed about 30 acres worth of corn silage in a year(non BMR). How many more acres will we need to feed if we grow a BMR? Considering I don't process the silage right now would I be better to spend my money putting a processor on the chopper ($8000) or would I get more production from growing BMR? Not sure I can afford to do both right now.
I have heard the yield drag on BMR is 10%. Is this about right for our area where we get about 2800 CHU's?
