SEON
Yep...classic torn ACL injury. Football and hockey players get it all the time.

I hurt mine for the first time playing hockey back in 1992. Managed to baby it along for about 25 years while still playing hockey but re-injured it a couple of times along the way. The final straw was jumping off the tailgate of the pickup 5 years ago. It buckled and went clunk when bone hit bone and felt like someone shoved a white hot fireplace poker inside my knee. Had surgery Jan 7 2015 I think at age 48. Surgeon said "I do 10 of these a week and at your age I generally say stop playing hockey and jumping off tailgates. I don't advise the surgery for you because you're too old to do the rehab". That pi$$ed me off. He was just testing me to see if I would fight or flight.

He cut out a two sections of my hamstring about 4" long and braided them together. They looked like raw chicken strips. Then he drilled a 3/4" hole in my fenur and another in my tibia or fibula I don't know which. He fished the hamstring through those holes and fastened it with a screw. All done orthoscopically while I watched on TV. Then the long 8 month rehab started. Lots of physio then the weight room to get the muscle mass back into my toothpick of a leg but I was walking a week or two after and was able to do spring planting just no jumping around is all. Playing hockey by mid September.

How much did the surgery cost you?
