Subject: RE: Checking in Part 2 continued from Machinery Talk

Stearns County, Minnesota

I had a mini bulk bag of some old seed wheat that I was wanting to use up sowing in places where water tends to wash and erode. I lifted it with the skidloader and did not want to crawl out under the raised boom as there was a younger guy a while back North of me with the same skidloader as mine that the hydraulics failed and it fell and crushed and killed him. I think that may have even been mentioned on Ag Talk at the time.

It is good to see you are back.  I know exactly what you are talking about, crawling out of the cab of a skid loader, with the boom raised in the air.  My hired man and myself over several years cleaned out a 5 acre salvage yard with two skid loaders.  The rule was never crawl out of the skid loader when the boom was raised.  We would contact each other when we needed help.  The one man would crawl out and help the other one, so he did not have to crawl out under a raised boom.  In your case, you really needed another man to help you.
